SURVIVAL ISLAND
“Authenticity requires vulnerability”
The skills learned in the performing arts can be beneficial to anyone in any profession. It teaches people to find their voice, take up space, and most importantly to better understand the kind of person they are/strive to be.
The script required the students at Canyon Elementary to find the quirks and differences in both themselves and their character, connect with them, acknowledge them, and embrace them—a common thread throughout the story as well. The experience working on Survival Island inspired many kids who normally turn down participating in the school productions to step up and build a community creative passion and a shared love of art.
“We had the BEST spring performances at our school last night! Thank you to all our hard working Critters, new and seasoned, for putting on a spectacular show. Clara Holland you are Canyon magic.”
