Miramonte High School, Orinda CA

Point B

“Socially and emotionally distant”

In the height of COVID, one had to consider “the masks we wear” and how they affect us both physically and psychologically. The characters wear bandanas to practically cover their COVID masks, but also to symbolize the psychological walls, facades, and deceit they put on.

Miramonte High School partnered with the CalShakes Bruns Theater to host the seniors’ original one act play project in their outdoor amphitheater. Familiar with the Bruns Theater's layout and weather patterns, Clara timed the thematic progression of the plot with the sunset and incoming fog, tailoring the setting and lighting design to suit the outdoor space and minimizing the set to enhance their isolation.

Clara’s fellow classmates voted to give them and Mina Jenab the award and scholarship for Outstanding Contribution to Drama. This award is given out every year to the senior who demonstrated great leadership throughout their 4 years, now especially during the height of COVID. Clara was highlighted as an actor, writer, director, designer, videographer, teacher’s assistant, and now an award winning thespian.
