CHICAGO
“Will it ever be enough?”
Every character, one way or another, is desperately clamoring to stay relevant; whether it be Roxie and Velma fighting for the press’s attention or little ol’ Amos fighting just to be seen. Clara and their Co-Director Rylee took a very collaborative approach to the development of the show, working closely with the actors and designers to emphasize the risks and obstacles that come with success, and the lengths in which people go to stay in control of their destiny. Specifically contrasting the hard spectacular performance with the soft spectacle of humanity. Who gets noticed and who falls behind?
Chicago satirizes society’s glorification of criminals and felons, something that has stayed relevant well past the 1920s. To compliment this, Clara and their team made the audience the driving force of the show, complicit in the actions and choices of the characters.
“Very interactive!”

“It was an impressively fresh take on a classic that [was] executed very cleanly. Two thumbs up!”
